My works deals with different aspects of femininity. Usually I use silkscreen technique to print a female image to a clay surface. The images are borrowed from art history or my own family album – or then they are pin-up girls such as Marilyn Monroe.
In Fuping I decided to paint images directly to wet clay surface by using just black color. This can be parallel to Chinese ink-painters, who have through the history used black ink to produce their lively pictures. The primary goal of my working was to catch a simple and sensitive line, with which to represent a female body. These images can be found in both of my works: from the “Curtain” installation and in the series of pieces called “Feminine objects”.
Recently, all my works have been 2-dimensional ‘clay slabs’ or 3-dimensional installations constructed from these images. In Fuping, I decided to make also 3-dimensional forms – though the idea behind the objects was, that they will carry a painting inside them. For me the combination of form and image is uneasy, but challenging starting point for the working. I believe that by making the collection “Feminine objects” I found something to work with further on in the future.
我的作品展现的是不同方面的妇女特质。通常我运用丝网印刷技术在陶泥表面绘制一个女性图像。这些图像取材于艺术史或我的家庭相册或者一些特定的女子如玛丽莲·梦露。
在富平我决定只用黑色在湿泥上直接绘制一些妇女图像。这类似于中国的油墨画家,他们用黑墨穿越历史创造出栩栩如生的图画。我作品的主要目的是通过简单感性的线条来展现女性的体形美。这些图像在我的作品“窗帘”和一系列称之为“阴性物体”的作品中均可以找到。
最近,我所有的作品都是平面泥板或被用来构建这些图像的3维空间装置。在富平我决定也制作3维空间形式——这种思想背后的目标是,他们将携带着一幅油画在里面。对于我来说形式和图像的组合是不容易的,为了工作从现在开始挑战。我相信通过阴性物体的组合我已找到一些为未来工作有着更深层意义的东西。 |
