I have always been fascinated by the beauty and perfection of the seed pods. Forms of the two of my main works I made in Fuping are based upon observations of the seed pods, which I found In Fuping pottery art village.
The first seed pod is closed and unfriendly. The second is open and invites the visitor to touch. Seeds inside of this pod are marked by words: I, you, she, he. Both of the seed works describe different attitudes towards the world – the open-minded and the aggressive ones. In these works the focus is on the communication between human beings. There are different ways to communicate to others for example friendly and aggressive.
The other seed pod opens up to another possibility to communicate as every visitor can make his or her own version of the work by moving seeds inside the pod, and in this way communicate directly with the sculpture. For me the communication is an essential part of art. Both of my works are coil built, the technique I often use.
